The Dean A. McGee Eye Institute Contact Lens Service is dedicated to providing the highest quality patient care. We provide a complete range of lenses from cosmetic contacts to the most specialized medically indicated lenses. As a medical device that touches the surface of the eye, contact lenses can certainly impact the health of the eye, thus proper preventative assessment and care must be taken to maintain successful wear.

The Contact Lens Fitting

A comprehensive eye exam is required within one year of contact lens fitting to ensure continued good and proper eye health. At the contact lens fitting you will be examined to see if you are a contact lens candidate. This examination includes the measurement of the corneal curvature, health assessment of the eye and an in-office fitting with diagnostic lenses. Proper insertion, removal and care of lenses are also demonstrated. The contact lens fitting and contact lenses are usually NOT covered by insurance.
