Askins named to board of directors

Duncan’s Jari Askins, former lieutenant governor of Oklahoma and currently interim executive director of the Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board, has been named a member of the Dean McGee Eye Institute board of directors.

Prior to the pardon and parole post, she ran Jarico, LLC, a consulting company and was associate provost for external affairs at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center with a primary focus on the Stephenson Cancer Center.

A graduate of Duncan High with a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Oklahoma, she has served in all three branches of state government.

She was inducted into the Oklahoma Women’s Hall of Fame in 2001.
